Listen First
The brief isn't what you say you want in the first meeting. It's what we learn by walking your home, hearing your routines, and asking about the rooms you avoid.
Every Vasquez Design Studio project is led personally by Jorge Vasquez, the studio's principal, from the first walkthrough to the final styling day. That means the person who heard how your family uses the kitchen is the same person detailing the millwork around it.
Clients describe the experience as working with a translator: someone who can take "it just doesn't feel right" and turn it into a floor plan, a palette, and a set of drawings a builder can price.
Outside of client work, the studio keeps a running study of Bay Area housing stock, from Victorians to midcentury ranchers, because designing well for a house starts with respecting what it already is.
Vasquez Design Studio began the way a lot of good rooms do: with a kitchen that wasn't working. A first project for a friend's family turned into a referral, then another, and the pattern became impossible to ignore. The projects that turned out best were the ones where we spent the first meetings asking questions instead of showing mood boards.
That became the practice. Today we take on a limited number of residential projects each year across the San Francisco Bay Area, from focused single-room refreshes to full remodels that take a house down to the studs. The scale changes; the approach doesn't. We learn how you live first, then design around it.
We work alongside a trusted circle of contractors, millworkers, and craftspeople we've built relationships with over years of projects. When we hand over drawings, the builders on the other end already know how we document and what we expect. That familiarity shows up in your budget and your timeline.

We talk about budget early and often, and we design to it. No reveal-day surprises, no specifying finishes the project can't afford.
Trends age fast. We choose materials and layouts that will still make sense in fifteen years, in a palette you won't tire of by next spring.
A boutique practice by choice. Small enough that the principal knows every drawing set, established enough to run a full remodel without drama.
